Managing Change in Managed Care
All seminars are free for members of The Coalition of Voluntary Mental Health Agencies, Inc. and any agency in contract with the New York City Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Alcoholism Services. For all others the seminars cost $100 each.
I. All Day Provider Academy - "Managing Change in the New World Order of Managed Care"
Executive staff from a Massachusets based Behavioral Health Network, a Colorado based CMHC and a Philadelphia based provider agency will use the morning session to share strategies for survival and success in the new environment. Afternoon workshops will include 1) Developing a business plan for financial success. 2) Affiliate, merge or develop a new corporate structure - choosing the right road. 3) Overcoming organizational and cultural barriers: strategies for successful transitions. This conference is intended for executive and senior level staff.

II. Comprehensive overview of managed care for new staff.
This four hour seminar will include information related to the history of managed care and behavioral managed care, MCO models, benefits, integrated system of care, financing, provider models, utilization management, quality management/quality assurance and government programs. This seminar was developed for staff unfamiliar with managed care in the behavioral healthcare world.

III. Creating a Strategic Fund-raising Plan
This workshop series will provide executive directors and senior staff with the opportunity to learn the basic skills and methodologies to design a strategic fund raising plan. The series consists of 3, three-hour sessions held over three months to allow participants time to complete assignments. The series will lead to each participating organization creating a strategic fund raising plan to guide the organization's fund-raising program. Over the course of the three month period of time, participants will also have access to the facilitators via e-mail and telephone conferences. This series was developed for executive and senior level staff.

IV. Confidentiality and Its Limits
This three-hour workshop will focus on client confidentiality as it pertains to the Mental Hygiene and Public Health Law; the retention and subpoena of mental health records and the disclosure of confidential material. This workshop in intended for both clinicians and senior staff.
