CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Demand for high quality local agricultural products is soaring, but many farmers struggle to realize increased sales. On January 26, farmers and marketing experts will gather for a workshop on marketing strategies for specialty crops and diversified farms to help local farmers increase profits.
This day-long workshop will open with Natalie Kenny Marquez of the Urbana Farmers’ Market presenting on branding and social media marketing strategies. Satina Braswell, General Manager of Common Ground Coop, will educated farmers on the ins and outs of selling to groceries and coops. Traci Barkley of Sola Gratia Farm will present on her farm’s strategies with marketing their Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) shares. Tracey Vowell, former Chicago chef, and current owner/operator of Three Sisters Farm will highlight important strategies for marketing farm products to chefs and restaurants. The day will culminate in a panel of successful farmers discussing innovative marketing strategies they have employed.
The workshop will be held at the Prairie Fruits Farm & Creamery classroom north of Champaign, IL, on January 26 from 9:30am-4:30pm. Locally sourced morning refreshments and lunch will be provided.
