FARGO, N.D. — All wheat stored in all positions in North Dakota on September 1, 2024 totaled 301 million bushels, up 17% from a year ago, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. On-farm stocks of 222 million are up 27% from 2023, while off-farm stocks, at 79.3 million bushels, are down 3% from last year.
Durum wheat stored in all positions totaled 39.1 million bushels, up 71% from a year ago. Of the total, 33.5 million bushels are stored on-farm, up 86% from last year, while 5.62 million bushels are stored off-farm, up 15% from 2023.
Barley stored in all positions totaled 31.8 million bushels, down 26% from last year. On-farm stocks are 16.5 million bushels, down 45% from last year. Off-farm stocks totaled 15.3 million bushels, up 17% from 2023.
Corn stocks totaled 52.2 million bushels, up 43% from a year ago. Of the total, 27.0 million bushels are stored on farms, up 108% from a year ago, while off-farm stocks, at 25.2 million bushels, are up 7% from last year.
Soybean stocks in North Dakota totaled 13.9 million bushels, up 46% from last year. On-farm stocks, at
4.55 million bushels, are up 42% from a year ago, while off-farm stocks, at 9.37 million bushels, are up 48% from 2023.
Oat stored in all positions totaled 8.64 million bushes. On-farm stocks, at 6.40 million bushels, are up 28% from a year ago. Off-farm stocks totaled 2.24 million bushels.
All sunflowers stored in all positions totaled 365 million pounds, up 94% from 2023. Of the total, 52.8 million pounds are stored on farms, down 1% from a year ago, while off-farm stocks, at 312 million bushels, are up 132% from last year.
Oil sunflower stocks in all positions are 316 million pounds, up 84% from last year. On-farm stocks, at 50.0 million pounds, are unchanged from a year ago, while off-farm stocks, at
266 million pounds, are up 118% from last year.
Non-Oil sunflower stocks in all positions are 49.1 million pounds, up 203% from a year ago. On-farm stocks, at 2.80 million pounds, are down 18% from a year ago, while off-farm stocks, at 46.3 million pounds, are up 261% from last year.
