UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — An upcoming Penn State Extension workshop aimed at greenhouse growers and allied industries will offer presentations, networking opportunities and the ability to earn pesticide applicator recertification credits.
Greenhouse Growers Day will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 22, at Shady Maple Smorgasbord, 129 Toddy Drive, East Earl.
This workshop is designed for greenhouse growers and operators, perennial producers, allied trades, and educators.
Organizers noted that top-quality speakers from industry and academia will present current topics and critical information for successful greenhouse production and management.
The workshop will cover:
- Plant growth regulators.
- Bee protection for pesticide applicators.
- Managing cash challenges — strategies to raise and preserve capital.
- Best of the Penn State Flower Trials.
- Practical applications of biocontrol and integrated pest management.
- Knock out natives.
- Growing native plants.
Participants can earn Pennsylvania pesticide applicator credits in each of the following categories: core, private, 06, 18, 22 and 23.
The $65 registration fee includes lunch. Participants must register by 11:59 p.m. Jan. 21.
