COLUMBUS, Ohio — Experienced agribusiness professional Kyle McCalla has joined Meristem Crop Performance® Group, LLC, one of the fastest-growing crop input suppliers in America. McCalla becomes Meristem’s sales rep and dealer coach in Ohio and Michigan.
“We are very excited to have Kyle McCalla on our growing team of all-stars,” said Mitch Eviston, Meristem Founder and CEO, in announcing the hire. “Kyle’s experience with crop inputs and retail business development, plus his passion for service – all of it makes him an excellent fit to help more farmers in Ohio and Michigan get more bushels for less.”
“My mission is to help farmers win with every crop they put in the ground,” smiles McCalla. “When they win, I win, and I see Meristem as putting farmers first and bringing great products to the farmer at a price that offers them a better return on their investment.” Kyle will cover his new territory from his home in Archbold, Ohio, where he lives with his wife Aubrey, daughter Reagan and son Lincoln.
McCalla grew up outside of Lancaster, Ohio, where his early farm experience came through his mother and grandfather. “My grandfather had 800 acres of corn, beans and wheat,” Kyle shares. “They also raised cattle, hogs and Dorset sheep, so I learned a lot about all of it early on.” McCalla earned his degree from Ohio University’s branch in Lancaster, working at a local feed mill and attending classes at night. “Driving trucks and seeing more operations gave me more appreciation for farmers,” he says.
Building on this early work, McCalla went on to gain deep and diverse experience with retail cooperatives serving farmers in Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky and Pennsylvania with crop inputs and agronomic services. He’s spent more than 10 years with Sunrise Coop, GROWMARK and Mercer Landmark, where he led agronomic services as vice president. He comes to Meristem from Lange Custom Builders, where he served as director of internal development and project manager.
“I’ve been able to learn a lot about service and leadership,” says McCalla, “and now I’m excited to bring that experience to my work with Meristem.” He says he was attracted to Meristem by the team, the transparency, and go-to-market strategy. “I see Meristem as a group that is matching what they say with what they actually do out in the field,” he says. “Whether it’service to farmers or helping others build their farm businesses as Meristem dealers, they are bringing a lot of value by streamlining the way they do business.”
