INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana State Fair 4-H Grand Drive is the Super Bowl of the livestock show season for 4-H exhibitors from across Indiana. After tight competitions, several of the exhibitors were crowned Grand and Reserve Champions Sunday evening during the 2024 Indiana State Fair Grand Drive, presented by Farm Credit MidAmerica.
During the event, 4-H members showed livestock of various species, weights, and classes on the prestigious dirt in the Indiana Farmers Coliseum. Categories included Dairy Steer, Meat Goat Wether, Meat Goat Wether Dam, Market Lamb, Market Barrow, Beef Heifer, and Beef Steer.
The Grand Champions for each species are as follows:
- Grand Champion Meat Goat Wether: Piper Unger, Middleweight, Sullivan County
- Grand Champion Meat Goat Wether Dam: Colton Kephart, Heavyweight, Johnson County
- Grand Champion Market Lamb: Zachary Tressler, Blackface Cross, Rush County
- Grand Champion Market Barrow: Kennedy Rodibaugh, Crossbred, Jasper County
- Grand Champion Beef Heifer: Hadley Hendrickson, Sim Solution, Randolph County
- Grand Champion Beef Steer: Remington Brumbaugh, Crossbred, Dekalb County
Reserve Champion (2nd place) was awarded to the following:
- Reserve Champion Meat Goat Wether: Spencer Goettemoeller, Heavyweight, Randolph County
- Reserve Champion Meat Goat Wether Dam: Sidney Kahre, Heavyweight, Knox County
- Reserve Champion Market Lamb: Matt Minnick, Blackface Cross, Cass County
- Reserve Champion Market Barrow: Riley Hayden, Crossbred, Jasper County
- Reserve Champion Beef Heifer: Hadley Hendrickson, Limousin, Randolph County
- Reserve Champion Beef Steer: Andrew Jarck, Maine-Anjou, Grant County
Approximately $150,000 was raised by the Indiana State Fair Foundation, the Indiana State Fair’s non-profit organization, to provide monetary awards for the winners of tonight’s competition. Top placing 4-H members will be recognized for their hard work at the Celebration of Champions event, held in September at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. The Celebration of Champions provides an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the achievement, scholarship, and hard work of these 4-H exhibitors.
