WEST OLIVE, Mich. — Michigan State University Extension will hold a half-day attraction and retention workshop for food and agricultural employers on Feb. 15, 2022, at the Ottawa County Fillmore Complex in West Olive, Mich. This introductory workshop is designed for small and medium-sized businesses who are interested in improving their employer value proposition by making their operation a more enticing place to work.
The program features five Michigan specialists in Agricultural Labor, Employment, and Human Resources:
Angela T. Hall, JD, PhD: Associate Professor at the Michigan State University School of Human Resources and Labor Relations, affiliated faculty at MSU’s College of Law and MSU’s Center for Gender in a Global Context, and host of the podcast series People Talk with Angela Hall.
Ashley Batteen: Recruitment, Professional Development, and DEI Officer for the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARAD) and leads the Food and Agriculture Workforce Solutions for the State of Michigan.
Jill Cords: Career consultant for both the MSU College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and Career Services Network. Outside of MSU, she helps her family operate several agricultural enterprises.
Karrie Brown: Serves with West Michigan Works! and the Agribusiness Talent Council as the Industry Council Lead and has a passion for promoting opportunities and benefits within the west Michigan community to help employers thrive.
Stan Moore: Farm Business Management Educator with Michigan State University Extension. He is based in Antrim County and offers farm business management educational programs in northern lower Michigan and the eastern UP.
Lunch will be provided courtesy of GreenStone Farm Credit Services.
